Fintastic Life...

Welcome to another Heartfelt Creations Wednesday!
Today we're continuing our under the sea adventure!

For this weeks creation, I decided to go super simple.  A white card base, some Distress Ink, along with some detailed fish images and a fun sentiment made this a super quick and easy card.

I usually struggle with a clean and simple card, but I think it turned out swimmingly...

I've flicked some water droplets onto the card before I adhered the fish embellishments and because Ranger Distress Ink reacts with water, you are able to remove some color by blotting it off with a tissue.  I thought it gave the card a beautiful water effect.

Here's a bit of a closer look...

These beautiful fancy tailed fish have been colored with my Spectrum Noir colored markers and have then been adhered to the card with pop dots.  I've given them a hint of shimmer with some Diamond Stickles.  And of course, I could not resist using the fun sentiment with these two beauties!

I hope you've enjoyed today's post!  Be sure to head over to the Heartfelt Creations blog for more magical ocean themed creations!

Until next time...

Project Supplies and Instructions
HCPC-3739 Under the Sea Cling Stamp Set
HCD1-799 Under the Sea Die
HCPC-3740 Heartfelt Wishes Cling Stamp Set

Other Products Used: white textured card stock, smooth white card stock, foam tape, Stickles - Diamond, BigShot die cutting machine, VersaFine Black Ink, MISTI, water, blending tool, Ranger Distress Ink - Peacock Feathers, Mermaid Lagoon, and Salty Ocean, Spectrum Noir Markers - OR1, OR2, OR3, pop dots, paper towel

Create a 5"x7" card base using smooth white card stock.  Trim a piece of textured white card stock just slightly smaller than the card base front.  Using a blending tool, working in a circular motion, cover the portion of the textured card stock as shown using different blue colored inks until desired hue and look is achieved. Using finger tips, flick a few drops of water onto inked background and lightly dab off using a paper towel.  The ink will lighten and then leave water spots resembling bubbles.  Repeat until you achieve desired effect. Stamp fish images onto smooth white card stock using black ink.  Color using alcohol markers.  Apply fish to card front where desired and add sentiment using black ink. Adhere card front to base using foam tape. Add Stickles to fish for some shimmer.

Sending You God's Beauty

Well, it's Wednesday and we're half way through another week!
Christmas is fast approaching...are you ready?
Maybe you have a scrapbook or card making fanatic in your life and you're still looking for that perfect gift?!?!
I know Heartfelt Creations can definitely help you out in that department!
Have you seen the gorgeous "Romantique Garden" Collection that debuted last week?
It's just in time for Valentine's Day and wedding season!
Nothing says "I Love You" or "Congratulations on Your Special Day" (wedding, anniversary) like a handmade card!  Or maybe you have a special romantic occasion that needs to be scrapbooked and given as a gift!
But, this collection isn't just for romantic occasions as you'll see today!
Maybe you have someone who loves to create with gorgeous garden themed collections!

I'm back today to share with you another project created with this beautiful collection.

I decided to create a card...and it's not overly romantic because I wanted you to be able to see that this collection can be used for more than those "lovey" occasions.
The card I created can be used for Encouragement, Just Because or Thinking of You!

Take a peek...

I loved this verse sentiment and thought it went so well with this collection.  What could show us God's beauty more than gorgeous flowers and a hummingbird?  For those of you who have followed me for sometime, you'll know that hummingbirds and gold finches are among my favorite birds.

Everyone on the Heartfelt Creations design team has created a different take on this gorgeous collection.  Be sure to check out each and every one!
You are sure to leave inspired...and maybe even get some ideas from the online store for last minute Christmas gifts!

For instructions on creating this card, please see the HC blog.

Until next time...

Clean & Simple Stamping Fun!

Happy Friday!
C'mon...I know you're doin' the happy dance (or at least want to)
because the weekend is almost here!
Glad you were able to squeeze in some time to come visit with me!

Now, I have a confession to make!
Those of you who have been followers here for awhile may already know this about me...
Ready?

I am not a clean and simple kinda card making girl!
LOL
There, I've admitted it!

However, that being said, I could not resist trying another CAS card when I saw the cute "Into the Woods" stamp and die set from Lawn Fawn at Scrapbooks by Designs!

Into the Woods Into the Woods Dies

I decided that I wanted to just do a simple fall scene with cute little fox
in the center of the card.
I began by inking and stamping the fox image in black and setting it aside to be colored and die cut later on when dry.
While waiting for the animal image to dry, I inked up the tree stump stamp and stamped it onto my white 4.25"x5.5" pre made card base, basically in the centre.  I then chose the sentiment I wished to use, stamped it directly under the tree stump keeping in mind to position it so the fox would still have room to be applied to the card and things would still look centered.
I then chose several colors of autumn colored inks and stamped a few different colored leaves falling around the scene.
Going back to the fox image which is now dry, I chose to color him with my Spectrum Noir Markers.
Did you know you can find those at Scrapbooks by Designs as well?
They are a great marker to work with and I love mine!
I then die cut the image with the matching die and my BigShot machine and popped him up off the page with 3D pop up squares just in front of the tree stump.

Are you ready by now to see how this little creation turned out?

I'll keep you in suspense no longer!  LOL

This adorable set has so many different options!
I chose to create an autumn themed card because the leaves are turning colors in our area already and I am always in awe of the beauty!  And, I do love fall!
However, just think...you could create a "Get Well Soon" card with the fawn and the "Oh Deer" sentiment...a "Hello/Thinking of You" card with the adorable racoon and the "hello" sentiment...an "Any Occasion" card with the fun little acorn and the "smile" sentiment.  Mix and match anyway you want and come up with an adorable set of cards!

I hope you feel I've pulled off this CAS creation and have been inspired to create one of your own.
Don't forget to check out the Scrapbooks by Design store for any additional supplies you may be needing!

Let's Get Krafty!

I'm back...and I'm glad to see that so are you!

Today is the day a new challenge starts over at The Crafter's Cafe.
It's a fun one this week...

"Kraft Paper and Corrugated Cardboard"

...is what we're challenging you to design with this week!

Our sponsor for this challenge is...

...be sure to check out The Crafter's Cafe Challenge blog to see what they are offering for a prize this week!

I chose the image "We Just Click" to work with this go round.

Here's a look see...

I've used an embossing folder on the kraft paper and then inked over it with a brown ink so that you could see the embossing a little better and to give it an aged look.  I've applied a piece of corrugated cardboard behind the image which has been mounted onto a chalkboard piece shape.  The image itself has been colored with my Spectrum Noir markers.  The lens has been covered in glossy accents to give it the appearance of glass.  Lastly, I came across some sticker letters that have been in my stash for like forever and decided to add the word "smile".
A quick and simple creation!

So grab all your "krafty" stash and get creating.  I can't wait to see how you use your corrugated cardboard!

Welcome!
Thanks for stopping by for a visit today!

Let's do something different in this post today...just because I feel like doing something a little different and this new challenge over at Pile it On has me chuckling and maybe even hanging my head in shame a little.

Let's start by looking at the card I created, and then I'll give you all the deets...

Here's the unveiling...

Any guesses as to what our theme for the new challenge this week is?

Ready...

 It's "Pretty Hair"!

Now you must get why I'm chuckling and hanging my head in shame ever so slightly!  I am still trying to perfect coloring with my Spectrum Noir markers and hair will definitely be on my list for awhile until it is perfected!

But, I do have to say it was fun to make this card because the little girl digi was so darn cute!  Her name is "Popcorn Ellie" who is one of the cute images we could choose to play with from our current sponsor....

I decided to keep this card more on the CAS side this time.  I found some awesome paper in the Silhouette Online store that I knew would suit this image perfectly!  (And they were having a half price sale so I was excited and bought a few more things!)  I printed out the digi and the sentiment through the Cameo so I could have them both sized together properly and just on one flat white sheet of cardstock.  The sentiment was a freebie from TLC Creations awhile back on "Popcorn Day".  I did not know it even gave such a day!  LOL  I then colored up Ellie, worked with some matting and lastly added a bright red ribbon.  Now I also added some red stickles to her bow in her hair...because you know she is supposed to have pretty hair...and I think I may not have done justice to her hair coloring!  For the finishing touch, I printed and cut some popcorn from a print file I purchased from the Silhouette Online store.  I thought it added a touch of funkiness to the card!

I suppose it's only fair that I give you a close up of this "Pretty Hair" attempt...

...see there really is some shading with different colors going on!  LOL

Well, what can I say other than now it's your turn to accept this challenge if you dare!  I know there are so many of you who color hair so beautifully!  C'mon show me how it's done!  Don't forget to link up with us at Pile it On and accept our other challenge which is to enter as many other challenges as you can!  I can hardly wait to browse through all the entries...and maybe pick up a tip or two!

Until next time...

Favorite Festive Colors

Wow!  It's Friday again...can you believe it?
I just can't believe how time is flying.  We're nearly at the end of March already!
I'm glad you've taken time to stop in for a visit with me today!

Since it's Friday, I'm here with another new challenge with Christmas Stampin' All Year Long!  As always, our theme is "Anything Goes"...with the twist of "using your favorite color combo"!

We are excited to have our challenge sponsored by none other than Meljens Designs this week!
(I just love Meljen digis!)

Meljen's Designs

They are offering one lucky winner 4 of their awesome non colored digis!
How awesome is that!

I was sent the cute image called Snowman Cupcake.
I decided to pair that image with Meljen's digi Sweet Candy Canes.
And as for using my favorite color combo...I have to say I love blue and white together.  I especially love blue and white for Christmas cards.  I usually land up having to talk myself out of this color combo when I make cards because not every card I create for the holiday season can be blue and white.  And, since I chose the candy cane image for this card as well, I used red as my accent color.

Here's a peek at how it turned out...

I colored the images with my Spectrum Noir markers.  I dug out my Christmas patterned paper and got to matting the different layers.  The sentiment is from Di's Digis.  I added some sparkle to the card by using Stickles on the candy canes, cupcake liner ribbon as well as the holly berries.  I covered the snowman's face completely in Glitter Ritz.  Lastly, I added some different blue toned colored sequins.

And there you have it...another blue and white Christmas card creation.  I really hope you all decide to get into the Christmas spirit and get creating with your favorite color combination.  Maybe you'll inspire me to give a new color combo a try!  LOL
Remember to link up CSAYL so I can see your creations.  While you're there, take a look at all the other fabulous cards the other DT members have created for your inspiration.

Welcome Summer...at least Wishful Thinking!

I have to admit that the cloudiness and the dreariness the last couple of days have been weighing down my soul!  I'm in need of a good dose of sunshine!
You will see that this is reflected in the card I have to share with you today!

It's Wednesday, which means its a new challenge over at The Crafter's Cafe!
We have an easy one for you this week!

Our theme is...

"Make a Square Card"

This week we are sponsored by...

and

Be sure to check out The Crafter's Cafe blog to see what types of prizes are being awarded!

I was able to create with a Stamping Boutique Image...and it totally made me wish it was summer!
Now, I am not a beach/water type person, but I was just telling my husband yesterday that the winter has seemed so long and cold that I found myself wishing we had gone on a warm winter vacation!

You can see those feelings clearly reflected in this creation...

I colored up the image using my Spectrum Noir markers.  I added some light blue Stickles to the sky to give it a free and breezy kinda feeling, and also added some vintage colored Stickles to the beach so that there was some texture and sparkle to the sand.  I added the sentiment which was printed and cut using my Silhouette Cameo and lastly added the 3 colorful buttons in the bottom corner.  The background paper is from a Lori Whitlock collection...and I loved the stripes as they reminded me of a beach towel.
A simple, yet hopefully bright and cheery card!

I hope you're able to make some time to play along with us at The Crafter's Cafe this week!  I know square cards are very popular and I'm assuming our submissions could reach a good number!

Until next time...

I'm a Country Girl...

Greetings to you today from rural Manitoba, Canada!
As I work ahead and schedule this blog post, I find myself looking at a country yard filled with massive snowbanks and listening to a howling wind which will chill you down to the bone.  I'm ready for spring...to watch our little acreage come alive with flowers, grass, leaves on the trees and all the wild flowers in the pasture.  I'm longing for a visit from my hummingbirds and goldfinches!  But, I suppose I have to wait a little longer!  I love living in the country...the smells (ok not the smells of the manure being spread!  LOL), the lack of neighbours, the big yard for the kids to play on...so when I had the opportunity to select a country girl digi I was excited!

I'm back today with a new challenge over at The Crafter's Cafe Challenge Blog!  It's a really neat one this time...we are challenging you to use lace, fibers and have an optional twist of doing the faux suede technique!  I had never heard of this technique before, so I got busy on YouTube...not much you can't find there...LOL.

I applied this technique to my background...which was a denim piece of designer paper.  I was hoping the blue denim would shine through a little more than it does, but I definitely like the effect of the wrinkles on it anyway.  It's so subtle in the picture, but on the card itself it looks very cool!

Take a look at the creation so this will all make sense...

I colored up this cute Kenny K digi with my Spectrum Noir markers.  I remembered that I had some country themed collage sheets by Heartwarming Vintage in my stash...and got down to fussy cutting some images and a few sentiments.  I just loved all the cute sentiments.

While at my favorite little scrap shop last week, I came across this awesome burlap ribbon and just knew I had to use it on this card.  I've applied that all along the bottom and then added some flowers to accent the corner.  You gotta have flowers if you're making a country themed card, don't ya?
The finishing touch was to add a few more cute sentiments near the flower bunch held in place by a clothes pin!

Here's a closer look at some of the elements...

And, of course I need to give you all the details about our sponsors for the challenge this week!

Love Is In the Details...

A second post today...that doesn't happen often anymore here does it?  LOL
If you are looking for my Crafter's Cafe card, please scroll down.

Love is in the details...there's so much truth in that saying isn't there!  As crafters we go the extra mile putting lots of love and energy into every creation we make.  You will always find love in all those details.
If you will recall, this is also the name of the local craft store I teach with. Today I'd like to share with you a few creations I have come up with for them to show case a new product line!
I was so excited to try out this new product line.  It is made and sold exclusively at Love is in the Details....it's the Lasered Edge Chipboard line.  It includes words, snowflakes, hearts, stars and the line is ever expanding!
Here's a few pics of the hearts and the words I had the pleasure of working with...

Chipboard - Hearts - #C2093
Chipboard - Arrow Hearts - #C2092
Chipboard Words - Love Words - #C2090
And now let's take a look at how I was able to use these awesome chipboard pieces...
In these first two cards, I've used some hearts.  They have been cut so that you are able to layer them as I have done in the second card.  In both of these creations, the hearts have been colored with Inka Gold.  I've created a pinkish hue on the first card by using a reddish ink along with the Inka Gold.

For my next examples, I used several of the chipboard words.  On the first card I've inked the chipboard with a touch of brown.  The "love" in the second card has been inked with the reddish ink and Inka Gold as well.

I'm so glad these chipboard pieces were released when they were, because I've had a great time creating some Valentine's cards with them.  But, never fear...these words and shapes can be used any time of the year!  If you're interested in any of the chipboard items you see, remember that they are also available for online ordering here as well.
Images have been purchased from TLC Creations.

...What a way to make a livin'"

Welcome!
Remember that song?  If you do, I'm pretty sure you're singing it in your head now!  LOL
I'm so happy that I no longer work out of the house 9-5!  I have really been enjoying my time at home, and being at home has allowed me to visit and create with you!

I have one more exciting announcement that I want to share with you.  Today is my first DT post with The Crafter's Cafe Challenge Blog!  I am so excited to be joining up with this crafty team and adding them to my current DT positions!

Our challenge for this week is..."Ha, ha, ha...Very Funny".
We wanna see your sense of humor shine this week!

And, we have some sponsors with a great sense of humor for this challenge...

http://www.etsy.com/ca/shop/OakPondCreations

as well as ...

http://www.bugaboostamps.com/

I had so much fun working with the Bugaboo image "Escape Key".
Here's the card I created...

I colored up the image with my Spectrum Noir markers and mounted it on a dark beige colored mat.  I was rummaging through my stash of papers and found some with numbers, addition and subtraction equations and thought this was perfect to represent an office worker.  I rummaged a little further in my stash and found some sticker fonts that I have owned for a really long time.  Now, sticker fonts are not usually something I use on my creations.  However, I had the 9-5 song running through my head as I was creating so I decided to do a little spoof of it on the card, as the lettering sorta looked like type setting/inputting style to me.  My kids think the joke on the digi is just too funny!

So, rummage through your stamps, and find a little "funny" you could share with us this week.  Remember...laughter is the best medicine.  To get you started, make sure you check out the other DT creations over at The Crafter's Cafe...they'll have you in stitches as well!
