School Humor

Good Morning, Afternoon, or Evening...

Has school started in your area already?  Our kids are going for their "meet the teacher/transition day" this coming Tuesday.  One will go for and hour, and the other for the afternoon.  These days always kinda make me chuckle.  The teachers meet with about 1/3 of the class for three days.  Then, after these three days, the entire class starts school together.  Now, I may be dating myself, but when I went to school we all started on the same day. None of this getting to know the teacher/student first!  You may have been called by the wrong name for the first week or so, and the seating plan changed from time to time that first week depending on various personalities...but it all worked out in the end!  LOL

You may wonder what school has to do with the new challenge over at Unstampabelles this month...let me explain!

Our challenge this month is to...

"Use Humor with the twist to Frame It"

Well, I thought "Back to School" would be the perfect theme to design around.
I started browsing the Silhouette store and came up with some cute images, sayings, etc.
I decided to make the design quick and easy,  I would use the print and cut setting on the Cameo to create.

Here's how it turned out...

As I said, the entire card has been printed and cut out with my Silhouette...with the exception of the days of the week washi tape in the upper right hand corner.  Some of the files I needed to color digitally and then turn them into a print and cut version in the Silhouette studio...but it's really quite quick and easy! I've popped up the school house with 3D pop up dots to make it the frame for the humorous sentiment.  I've also popped up the little boy as well to give the illusion of him standing in front of the school.   To give the card some sparkle I've added some red Stickles to the heart in the list of reasons to love school!

When all was finished, I had a good chuckle as I could totally see my son saying these things ont he list!  He loves school...but I do have to say that recess is one of his favorite "subjects"!  LOL
I may have to save this card and give it to his teacher sometime during the year!

Before I forget to mention, we do have a sponsor this month over at Unstampabelles.
It's our very own Susan and The Wood Fellow...aka, her hubby!
Be sure to check out the challenge blog to see the wonderful prize they are offering.

Now before I go, let me take care of a few reminders...
You will have until September 26 at midnight to link up with us with your creation.
Also, your creation cannot have stamping of any kind on it...no rubber stamping, no
digital stamping, etc.  We are a "stamp free" challenge blog where we encourage you to think outside of the box and use different elements on your creations.  It's really not as hard as it sounds.  For a list of ideas, be sure to check out the "Ideas for Creations" tab on the blog.
That's all for today folks!
Can't wait to see what kind of creations you come up with!

House Keeping Humor

Hi there!
I have a quick question for you today before we get into the good stuff!
What does your typical Saturday hold for you?
Is it full of laundry, dusting, vacuuming and cleaning?
I'll be the first to admit that I really don't spend enough time cleaning in our house.  The nooks and crannies are usually a little dusty, and there are usually a few thing sitting around.  Life is really to short to just spend all day making the house perfect.  My thought is that if you don't like the dust, the few things laying around...you have two choices...you can either clean for me or not come back for a visit!  LOL

You must be wondering where I'm going with this!
It's a new challenge over at Pile it On!
Our theme for this week is ...

"Humorous"

What a great theme!

We are sponsored by

who has some of the most humorous stamps around!
They are offering one lucky winner 2 digis of their choice.

I had the fun of creating with Deirdery Dunderton!

Let's take a peek at her humorous words of wisdom about house cleaning!

Oh...don't you just wish!  LOL
Visit with your company in the dark so they don't see the mess!
The awesome sentiment comes from TLC Creations.

It's your turn now to come up with something funny!  Be sure to check out the other DT creations so you can have several good chuckles!

Until next time...

Love Is In the Details...

A second post today...that doesn't happen often anymore here does it?  LOL
If you are looking for my Crafter's Cafe card, please scroll down.

Love is in the details...there's so much truth in that saying isn't there!  As crafters we go the extra mile putting lots of love and energy into every creation we make.  You will always find love in all those details.
If you will recall, this is also the name of the local craft store I teach with. Today I'd like to share with you a few creations I have come up with for them to show case a new product line!
I was so excited to try out this new product line.  It is made and sold exclusively at Love is in the Details....it's the Lasered Edge Chipboard line.  It includes words, snowflakes, hearts, stars and the line is ever expanding!
Here's a few pics of the hearts and the words I had the pleasure of working with...

Chipboard - Hearts - #C2093
Chipboard - Arrow Hearts - #C2092
Chipboard Words - Love Words - #C2090
And now let's take a look at how I was able to use these awesome chipboard pieces...
In these first two cards, I've used some hearts.  They have been cut so that you are able to layer them as I have done in the second card.  In both of these creations, the hearts have been colored with Inka Gold.  I've created a pinkish hue on the first card by using a reddish ink along with the Inka Gold.

For my next examples, I used several of the chipboard words.  On the first card I've inked the chipboard with a touch of brown.  The "love" in the second card has been inked with the reddish ink and Inka Gold as well.

I'm so glad these chipboard pieces were released when they were, because I've had a great time creating some Valentine's cards with them.  But, never fear...these words and shapes can be used any time of the year!  If you're interested in any of the chipboard items you see, remember that they are also available for online ordering here as well.
Images have been purchased from TLC Creations.

Until next time...
