Show Us Your Inner Elf!

Welcome Back!

I'm here today to share with you the latest challenge over at Holly Jolly Christmas Challenges!
For the next two weeks we are asking you to show show us your projects showcasing....

"Christmas Elves"

What a fun theme...and just in time as it's time to start gearing up for the arrival of our very own "Eli the Elf" (our elf on the shelf).
Our son is super excited and waiting for that little green sprite to appear!
Our daughter just smiles...I think she's caught on!  LOL

Here's my Christmas Elf creation...

Isn't he cute...and he has a reminder message for you..."Santa Claus is coming to Town".
So don't procrastinate...get those cards made, those gifts purchased and wrapped and that baking packed in the freezer.

Before I go, I want to share sponsor details for this challenge...

...and they are offering one lucky winner...

...and here's a little more about them..

As if raising five children in the frozen land of the North was not enough of a challenge,Jodie Mackrell decided to dip her cold little Canadian toes into the world of paper crafting by opening an online store full of her illustrations. That was two years ago. Today Bugaboo Stamps is one of the leading companies in digital images, and we're still growing! From seriously snarky to sugary sweet to sublimely soulful all the way over to the other side of the super sexy spectrum, you're bound to find all that you need and more to create your paper projects. Jodie works very hard to provide New Releases and Freebies every week!
If your taste runs to rubber (and you know who you are), you can find Bugaboo Stamps atTotally Stampalicious. And finally, join the Bugaboo Stamps DT for weekly challenges atCatch the Bug.

 That's all for me today!
Can't wait to see your elf inspired creations!
Be sure to check out the other DT creations on the Holly Jolly blog for more fantastic ideas!

Until next time...

"Do You Wanna Build a Snowman?"

Hello and Welcome!

Today begins a new challenge at Holly Jolly Christmas Challenges!
The title of my blog post should give you a bit of a hint as to our new challenge theme...and should also leave you humming that very popular song from the movie "Frozen"!  LOL

Our new challenge theme this week is...

"Snowmen"

A fun, cool and frosty idea for a Christmas card creation!

Let's begin by having a peek at my card for this challenge...

I had the pleasure of creating with a Bugaboo Stamps image called "Brats - Winter Snowman".
This image just reminded me of our son and daughter playing in the front yard working on building a snowman together.
I colored up the image with my Spectrum Noir markers and chose a Recollections snowflake paper from a Christmas paper pack I picked up on sale at Michaels last week to use as the background.  I then cut some snowflakes and swirl die cuts with various dies and my BigShot.  I then glittered up the two corner snowflakes with some Crystal Stickles and applied a white sequin to the centre of each.  I found a vellum sentiment among my stash that I'd had for quite some time and felt that it suited the image....kids always delight in making a snowman don't they?
For the finishing touch, I added some Aleene's Glitter Snow to the bottom of the image to give it some extra shine and texture.
I think this would make a great card to give to a child during the holiday season along with a gift card or some cash enclosed.

Now...how about we move along to the sponsor details for this challenge...
Please welcome ...

"Bugaboo Stamps"
along with...

"The Stamping Boutique"
store

Please be sure to check out the Holly Jolly Challenge Blog to see the wonderful prizes these awesome companies are offering two lucky winners!
While you're there, be sure to check out the fantastic creations the rest of the lovely and talented DT members have created.

Before I go...I quickly wanted to share with you one more Snowman project my daughter, my mom and I worked on this past Thanksgiving weekend.  We were busy finishing the sock snowmen my daughter had suggested we build for the upcoming Christmas Craft Sale I will be doing the first Saturday in November.

Here's a pic of two of them...

We had so much fun creating them.  We made 13 in total...and it was so much fun to watch as each snowman took on it's own look and personality as it was dressed and different embellishments added.  We even created a few that landed up reminding us of family members!

So...the rest is up to you!
Rummage through your digis, rubber stamps, clear stamps, collage images and find that perfect snowman to create a special Christmas card.  Then be sure to link up with us at Holly Jolly so we can see what you've created!

Until next time...

It's a Holly Jolly Christmas...

 Hi there!
I have something exciting to share with you today!
I've been asked to join the wonderful design team at Holly Jolly Christmas Challenges!
You know me...I love, love, love making Christmas projects!

Our theme this week is one of your favorites...

"Anything Goes"

Couldn't get much more easy than that!

I decided that I wanted to create a more fun and brightly colored card for this challenge.

Here's how it all came out...

Here's a close up of the colored image!
(I hadn't colored with my Spectrum Noir markers for quite some time and watched a few videos to try to improve on my technique!)

The adorable digi image comes from Bugaboo stamps who is one of our wonderful sponsors this challenge!  I had some fun designer patterned paper with a sentiment on the bottom which I figured would be perfect to use as the base on my card.  I cut out some strips of different patterned paper and fussy cut some tails into the bottom of them, and adhered them to the side of the card.  I decided to fussy cut a few smaller presents from another sheet of patterned paper and popped them up with 3D squares in the corner on top of the gift on the paper.  I then popped up the digi image with the 3D squares as well.

Now, let me share our sponsor details with you for this new challenge.
We would like to welcome back once again...

...who will award one lucky winner 7 digi stamps of their choice...

and...

...who will award one lucky winner a $12 gift certificate to the store.

So, break out your holiday stamps and get creating a Christmas card today!
It may seem early, but you'll be glad you have one extra done when that busy holiday time begins!

The Weather is Getting Colder...

...So sit back, grab yourself a cup of something warm and visit for awhile!

Happy Friday!
The weather has certainly changed in our area of the world.  It's become downright chilly and the frost warnings have begun.
The chilliness certainly has Christmas gifts on my mind lately.
Well these "gifty" thoughts fit in perfectly with our new challenge at Christmas Stampin' All Year Long!

"A Non Card Project"

I've been busy trying to come up with neat little inexpensive gifts for my craft sale table and warm beverages popped into my mind!
How about a tea bag dispenser!  I knew I had a cute cut file from SVG Cuts that I'd been wanting to test out.

I broke out the Christmas paper, got the Cameo humming and quickly did a print and cut with the sponsor image after the tea dispenser template was cut.  I colored the image with my distress markers and cut out a large snowflake using my BigShot and Memory Box die.  I adhered the image to the centre of the snowflake and popped it up off the dispenser.

Here's how it turned out...

I think they'd make very cute gifts for a office grab bag, for a teacher gift, etc.

But before I go...let me fill you in about our sponsor for the week!

We would love to welcome back again

They are offering one lucky winner 7 digis of their choice.
And...they have the most awesome digis...you'll have a hard time selecting if you're the lucky winner!

So dig deep into your creativity and maybe get a few Christmas gifts made and out of the way before the busy holiday season hits!

Will You Tag Along...

....with us this week at Christmas Stampin' All Year Long?

It's Friday once again!
I'm back from a great camping vacation so I've been missing in action for a bit.
I got to get my creative juices flowing for another CSAYL challenge...which if you haven't guessed by the title is...

"Tags"

We are sponsored this week by the ever popular

who are offering one lucky winner 7 digis of their choice!
Thanks Bugaboo!

Now, I don't usually do tags...actually I've never created a tag before if you can believe it.
Since I'm a passionate card maker, I usually don't see the need for a tag.
Well, the first thing I did was to find an interesting Silhouette cutting file to get the whole project rolling.
Then I incorporated the digi I had to play with from Bugaboo and added it directly to the Silhouette program so I could print and cut it directly on the tag at the same time.
I got to coloring with my distress markers, hauled out the Big Shot to do some die cutting, and here's where my creativity took me...

Now I believe I'll have to create a matching card and give this away on an actual gift!

Now it's your turn to create a tag and link it up with us at CSAYL!

Until next time...

An Attempt at Steam Punk...

Do you ever have one of those cards that you just put off creating until just the last minute because you frankly don't know where to go with it?
Well, if you do I'm happy to say that you are in good company.  I usually like to have my cards done well ahead of time for challenges that are being posted, but this time I got it done just barely in time.  It's not that I hadn't been thinking about what I could do...I just dreaded doing it because it was a theme I had never attempted before.

I'm sharing the new challenge with you today that starts at The Crafter's Cafe Challenge Blog.

"Steam Punk"
(must include one metal piece)

Our awesome sponsors for this challenge are...

as well as...

Be sure to check out The Cafe Blog to see what juicy prizes they are tempting you with this go round!

Now, back to the card making business...
I hope I haven't scared you with the challenge.  I've never dabbled in the world of steam punk before.  I love the way it looks...it's just not really my thing.
That being said...here's a peek at what I finally came  up with...

I was lucky to be able to work with the Bugaboo image "Frame It One Day at a Time" which I sprayed down with my Mr. Huey's manilla colored spray.  I cut out a border with the Cameo that has gears running all the way around it.  (Sorry this picture is so crappy...I used Goosebumps for texture on the card and now it's hard to photograph because it's all shiny!)  I've embossed a metal sheet with a Tim Holtz embossing folder which is tucked in behind the digi stamp.  I've also used the metal sheet to cut out some gears with my Memory Box die (also did some in brown card stock).  I've added a few numbers to the side of the card as well as a vintage photo of a couple on a motorcycle.  The sentiment at the bottom of the card says "Live a little, life is an adventure".  The vintage photo and small sentiment come from a Heartwarming Vintage sheet.  I've added a few metal brads to the top corner, as well as the pointed finger, the mustache, and a male head die cut.  Then I sprayed it down with the goosebumps as mentioned above to give it some texture.

As I was working on the card, I actually started to enjoy creating it.  It seems the key to steam punk for me was to just keep adding more elements.  I hope you think it came out ok....I likely won't be trying my hand at this again anytime soon!  LOL

It's your turn now...dig around in your stash and see what you can come up with to create a card with that Steam Punk feel.  It's good to get out of your comfort zone once in awhile and stretch your crafting abilities.  Just don't wait too long like I did...the challenge only runs for a week!
Can't wait to see what you come up with!

This card has been shared in the following challenges...
Lexi's Creations..."For the Man/Boy in Your Life"
Cardz 4 Guyz..."Time"
Quirky Crafts Challenges..."The Letter S"  (steam punk)

Christmas Layers

Happy Friday Everyone!

You know what Friday means...it's a new challenge over at Christmas Stampin' All Year Round!
I know it's one that many of you will excel in...as always "Anything Goes" and our twist this week is...

"Lots of Layers"

I have a confession to make about my card today...I'm not really sure I like it!  LOL
There were so many little things that went wrong with it along the way!
I was aiming for a bit of a country feel to the card...so I chose snowflake paper, polka dotted paper and a beautiful gingham paper.  I layered it with white paper for matting...

Let's take a look...

I decided to layer the sentiment as well...so I snipped it apart as it was too long for the card and started matting with the white and polka dot paper.  I decided to try to do this the quick way by using my Xyron sticker maker...it's a new purchase and I'd only used it once before.  Well I got busy running all of the pieces through, and when I went to take off the backing of the sticker part...I had sent all of the pieces through the wrong way!  Oh was I ticked with myself.  So what did I do?  I decided that I would cover them all with Glitter Ritz!  (The card is sooooo sparkly, and I don't know if you can see it on the photo...but the sentiment and the main image all shimmer!)
So...I sent all the pieces through the sticker maker again...the correct way this time.
The image has been colored with my Spectrum Noir markers.  And, when I scratched a test mark on some scrap paper, I really thought I had chosen colors closer to the gingham and sentiment muted colors.  It's a little more vibrant than I was going for...oh well...I suppose it sorta works!
I added a few smaller snowflakes and then covered them with Crystal Stickles and then punched a few hearts to add to the card to again try to rescue that country feel!  LOL
So, I hope you'll find some inspiration in that creation somewhere!

Now, I should share a bit with you about our sponsor.
We are so happy to welcome back Bugaboo Stamps!

I just love the cute digi I got to work with!
They are generously offering one lucky prize winner 7 digis of their choice!
Thanks Bugaboo!

The rest is now up to you!  Get out those stacks of paper, choose a color scheme and get layering...like lots and lots of layering!  Then remember to link up with us at CSAYL.
The rest of the design team have created some amazing cards for your inspiration as well.  Remember to stop by their blogs to leave them some love!

Until next time...

Under the Sea

It certainly feels like the weeks are passing faster and faster lately!
How about for you?
We're still awaiting spring here in Manitoba, Canada...and I'm just happy that the snow they've been calling for in the last week or so has never come to pass.
The kids and I are so ready for sunshine and green grass!

I'm glad you could stop in today to see what our new challenge over at {Pin}spirational Challenges is this week.  As you know, we always base our creations on a {pin}spiring photo.

We have a unique one for you today...so be prepared to throw on your creativity cap...

Aren't the colors beautiful?  Those teals, blues, greens...not to mention the textures!
And the possibilities with turtle digis seem to be endless these days!

I decided to use some cutting files for my Silhouette Cameo which I purchased on sale at
Designs on Cloud 9.  This under the sea themed set was a file that was being retired and I just couldn't let it slip through my fingers.

But, before I show you what I created for this challenge, let me bring you up to speed on our wonderful sponsors for this week...

as well as...

and last but not least...

Be sure to check out the {Pin}spirational Challenge blog to see the wonderful prizes are sponsors are offering this week!

Now, back to my creation!
Let's take a look!

and here's a closer peek at the sentiment I used from our sponsor Imagine That...

and lastly a closer look at the grouping in the shadowbox as well as the turtle on the front...

I had purchased a shadow box cutting file from the Silhouette online store that I thought would be perfect for this card challenge.  The different layerings and the fact that it was a shadow box I felt would give you that under the sea water feeling like in our {pin}spiring picture.  Since I was a little short on time with this one, I decided to use the PNG files that were included with the cutting files rather than paper piece for this project.  I've popped up the sea horse, as well as some of the seaweed so the background looks dimensional.  I've cut some extra waves for the front of the card and added the turtle so it looks like he's swimming through the scene as well.  Lastly, I've added a print out of the sentiment from our sponsor Imagine That.  All in all, I thought it came out kinda cute!

Are you ready to tackle this under the sea challenge?  Needing more {pin}spiration?  Don't forget to check out the other DT members creations on the blog!
I'm looking forward to seeing where your creativity takes you with this photo!

Santa Claus is Coming to Town...

...many days from now thankfully!  LOL

I'm so excited today as this is my 100th blog post!  I started blogging last year in April and really never thought I'd go anywhere with it!  It seemed so daunting and un nerving at the time...but look at this...I've written 100 posts and there are even a few of you who check in ever so faithfully!  Thank you!  You've been some of the most awesome encouragers along the way!

Enough rambling...and let's get down to business!

Over at Christmas Stampin' All Year Long this week we are excited to be starting a new challenge.  This go round our theme is as always "Anything Goes" with the extra twist of adding some "sparkle and shine".  So, break out the glitter, Stickles, gems, rhinestones, etc. and lets see how you "sparkle and shine".

Our wonderful sponsor for this week's challenge is Bugaboo!

They are offering one lucky winner 7 digis of their choice!

I had so much fun playing with the digi entitled "Chubby Santa - Candy Cane which you can find here.

I colored him up using my Spectrum Noir markers and then set about to adding some sparkle.  I used red and white stickles on the candy cane, and some gold stickles on Santa's belt buckle.  The peppermint candy embelly is from the Martha Stewart line and came all glittered up.  I added some Glitter Ritz to Santa's hat, and lastly added some gem stones to various points on the card.  I wish you could see this card in person...it really does sparkle and shine with all those elements catching the light.  The sentiment is from TLC Creations, and the card base is once again a pre made base that I purchased at Michaels after the holiday season for a deep discount!

I encourage you to jump on the band wagon and get creating those Christmas cards along with us so you will have less stress during your holiday season.  Link them up at CSAYL and maybe you'll be our next lucky winner!

Lessons from a Teddy Bear

Do you ever think about that childhood teddy bear you had?  You know the one whose one eye was missing and his fur had been completely loved off by you and the washing machine?  My daughter has a stuffed puppy that she's had since she was small and he has been loved to pieces...almost.  He's thread bare and has had some stitching done in a few places.

Our photo to inspire you at {Pin}spirational Challenges this go round reminds me of my daughter.  She used to carry her puppy around with her like this little girl carries around her teddy bear.
Isn't this such a cute photo!

We are once again sponsored by some absolutely awesome companies...

Prize 7 digis

...as well as...

 ANNE'S DIGITAL ART
Prize 5 digis

...and last but not least...

 A RANDOM FAN
Prize- 3 digis

Now I landed up not using a sponsored image this week because I had come across a digi at TLC Creations that I was wanting to use.  I also knew that I had background paper that resembled the girls dress.  This picture just made me think of childhood and simple times, so I decided to keep my card simple this week as well.

Here's a look...

and here's a close up of that adorable bear...
(I had such fun watercoloring him with my Tim Holtz Distress markers!)

lastly, a close up of the sentiment...

I just love that sentiment!

For the finishing touch I decided to add 3 simple buttons.

I hope I've challenged you to find something in the {pin}spiring photo to incorporate in your creation.  There's really no doing it wrong...it's what jumps out at you...colors, patterns, teddy bears, little girls in beautiful dresses...the possibilities are endless.  Just remember to share your creation with us over at the {Pin}spirational Challenge blog.  And, while you're there be sure to check out the other DT creations.  I promise those will lead to more {pin}spiration.

Until next time...

Welcome!
Remember that song?  If you do, I'm pretty sure you're singing it in your head now!  LOL
I'm so happy that I no longer work out of the house 9-5!  I have really been enjoying my time at home, and being at home has allowed me to visit and create with you!

I have one more exciting announcement that I want to share with you.  Today is my first DT post with The Crafter's Cafe Challenge Blog!  I am so excited to be joining up with this crafty team and adding them to my current DT positions!

Our challenge for this week is..."Ha, ha, ha...Very Funny".
We wanna see your sense of humor shine this week!

And, we have some sponsors with a great sense of humor for this challenge...

http://www.etsy.com/ca/shop/OakPondCreations

as well as ...

http://www.bugaboostamps.com/

I had so much fun working with the Bugaboo image "Escape Key".
Here's the card I created...

I colored up the image with my Spectrum Noir markers and mounted it on a dark beige colored mat.  I was rummaging through my stash of papers and found some with numbers, addition and subtraction equations and thought this was perfect to represent an office worker.  I rummaged a little further in my stash and found some sticker fonts that I have owned for a really long time.  Now, sticker fonts are not usually something I use on my creations.  However, I had the 9-5 song running through my head as I was creating so I decided to do a little spoof of it on the card, as the lettering sorta looked like type setting/inputting style to me.  My kids think the joke on the digi is just too funny!

So, rummage through your stamps, and find a little "funny" you could share with us this week.  Remember...laughter is the best medicine.  To get you started, make sure you check out the other DT creations over at The Crafter's Cafe...they'll have you in stitches as well!

Until next time...

A Cup of Cocoa

Brrr...it's cold outside today!
As I sit here scheduling  this post to go live for Tuesday,  it is -47 degrees Celsius with the wind chill factor...school has been cancelled and the kids are happy for the extra day of holiday time.  We've been having such a trend of extreme cold weather lately, I'm looking forward to later in the week when they say this will let up and become warmer.

Today I'm back with our current {Pin}spirational Challenge...and wait until you see this beautiful photo we have for your inspiration...it fits in with the weather we've been having!  LOL

Here it is...

Isn't it stunning?  There's texture to play with, different color schemes, different themes such as cocoa or mittens!  The possibilities are endless!

Our sponsors for this challenge are as follows...

...offering one lucky winner 7 digis of their choice!

...offering another lucky winner 4 digis of their choice!

...offering yet another lucky winner a $12 Gift Certificate

Wow! We're offering 3 prizes this week...so you have a great chance of being a prize winner!
 Fantastic!

Now...onto some crafty {pin}spiration!
I had so much fun working with an awesome digi and sentiments from Sami Stamps!

Here's a look at where my imagination took me...

I decided to go with the various colors that stood out to me...the brown of the hot chocolate, the gorgeous teal color and of course the white.  I colored up the picture with my Spectrum Noir markers which I had previously printed out along with with the sentiment thru my Silhouette Cameo.  I began layering my card with brown card stock, some teal card stock which I embossed with a snowflake embossing folder using my Bigshot, as well as a patterned paper from a Vintage Recollections collection.  I also matted the image onto a piece of brown card stock so it would pop off the page.  I cut the heart and cup of cocoa with my Cameo from some Silhouette cutting files I had in my library.  I used my Martha Stewart punch to create the snowflakes on the bottom...which I covered with Patina Stickles and added a rhinestone to the centre.  I thought the card came out looking quite cozy...and I just loved the sentiment.  I think it would be a great card to add a coffee shop gift card to and pass along to a friend!

I hope I've given you some ideas and gotten your creativity swirling!  I encourage you to link up with us at {Pin}spirational Challenges this week!  Also, check out the great projects the other DT members have created!  It's amazing what we can all come up with using the same photo for inspiration...and we'd sure like to see your take on the photo as well!
