How are you? It seems forever since we've been able to visit together!
I know it's been very quiet around here as of late...life has been super busy, and I have to admit that my creative side seems to have wandered off and I'm having a bit of trouble finding it!
Have you been enjoying the newest release by Heartfelt Creations...the Camelia Carnation Collection? Isn't the carnation a staple in every floral arrangement...and yet such a subtle, down to earth flower that is so often completely overlooked?
I've created a Mother's Day card with this beautiful collection!
Here's how the project came together...
The carnation layers work perfectly with the 3D Basics Floral Shaping Mold and make creating these little gems so quick and easy!

I thought the window would be the perfect backdrop for the carnations and would make such a lovely feminine card perfect for Mother's Day....after all, carnations are traditionally associated with Mother's Day!
I've done some distressing around the edges of the patterned paper to give the card a bit of texture and interest. I've glittered the carnations using a dries clear glue and transparent glitter, and have added Nuvo drops to the centers of the three small accent flowers...also carnations, just not shaped as such and left as singles.

Create a 5"x7" card base. Trim a
matting piece from pink card stock just slightly smaller than the card
base allowing a white border around the mat. Next trim a piece just
slightly smaller than the pink mat from Camelia Carnation paper
collection. Rough edges of patterned paper using a distress tool and ink
edges with a light brown ink. Adhere patterned paper to pink mat and
adhere to card base. Die cut the window frame die cut as shown. Die cut
one of the oval shaped intricate die cuts from the Window Box Elements
Die and using scissors, cut in half. Adhere one half of each die cut to
window frame to mimic shutters. Cut a piece of patterned card stock from
carnation paper collection just slightly larger than the window frame
die cut as shown. Rough edges and ink all edges with a light brown ink.
Cut a mat from pink card stock just slightly larger than the patterned
paper piece. Marry patterned paper and pink mat together, shape window
frame slightly and adhere pieces together. Using doubled up pop dots,
adhere window frame portion of card to card base.
Next stamp two inkings of small
camelia carnation flowers onto white card stalk using a pink ink. Die
cut using coordinating die and color one set using sponge daubers with
same color ink, while leaving one set white with pink veining. Shape
flowers using floral basics mold. (See video listed above). Assemble flowers as shown in video listed above, creating
one larger white carnation, one smaller white carnation, one larger
pink carnation and one smaller pink carnation. Keep three of the
smallest flowers single to use as accent flowers.
Stamp two inkings of the leaves from
the Small Camelia Carnation cling stamp set using a darker green ink on
white card stock. Using a sponge dauber, color using a light green ink
in the centers and the same darker green ink used to stamp along the
edges. Shape using your Deluxe Flower Shaping Kit.
Stamp one image of the smaller
fanciful carnation image onto white card stock using a light grey ink.
Color using sponge daubers. Adhere along side of card where flower
cluster will be created. Now add assembled carnations, leaves and accent
flowers as shown.
Trim out sentiments from paper
collection, snip a ribbon tail into the end of each, ink each edge with a
light brown ink and curl slightly over your fingers. Adhere to card
base as shown.
Lastly, using a dries clear glue,
apply a light sprinkling of glitter to each flower. Add white Nuvo drop
centers to the three small accent flowers.
