Today is the first day of spring here in Manitoba, Canada...on the calendar at least! LOL
I for one could not be happier....I'm ready for chirping songbirds, water puddles and perennials poking their heads out of the ground to welcome the season of new beginnings!
Our snow is slowly disappearing and we're starting to see black earth in the fields around us!
Now, the gorgeous Cherry Blossom Retreat Collection has been the perfect breath of fresh air while waiting for this spring season to arrive! I hope you'll love today's share and it will find you wishing for the spring season!

I decided I would use one of the wave like borders with eyelet edging to create a division in the card. I opted to use two styles of papers to give the card some extra interest. I chose this border because I knew it would go with the beautiful birthday sentiment from the Butterfly Dreams Collection!
Since I had out my Butterfly Dreams Collection, I thought the beautiful butterflies stamped and heat embossed in white on vellum would be the perfect addition to a spring themed card!
The gorgeous intricate die cut included in the Cherry Blossom Retreat Collection was too large to use as a whole on this design, so I cut it in half and added it to the side of the card. It was perfect for adding a delicate element that coordinated so well with the vellum butterflies!
The cherry blossoms were actually left over blossoms I had assembled for another project and they made it so quick and easy to assemble a pretty floral cluster! I just love how the stamens look in these cherry blossoms!

Create a 6” x 6” card base
from white card stock. Next, from Cherry Blossom Retreat Paper Collection,
choose a green decorative sheet, and find the two 6” x 6” premade card panels
shown. Trim green decorative paper to fit slightly smaller than card base. Adhere
to card base. Trim the two premade card panels to be slightly smaller than the
green background mat.
Using the Classic Border
Basics Die, cut the premade card panel with the small bird house on the bottom
using the basic decorative cut as shown. Using Ranger Archival Ink – Jet Black,
stamp sentiment from the Butterfly Kisses Cling Stamp Set.
Next, using the same
Classic Border Basics Die, die cut the small eyelet decorative border from
white card stock. Adhere to premade card panel which you have die cut, trimming
off ends as necessary. Marry the two premade card panels together using a good
adhesive. Adhere to card base.
Using the Daydreams Bridge
Die, cut the decorative embellishment from white card stock, then trim in half
with scissors. Adhere one half to card base using Designer Dries Clear
Adhesive.
Stamp two of the butterfly
images from the Butterfly Kisses Decorative Die onto Rajni Chawla’s Vellum
Flowerite using ColorBox Pigment Ink Pad – Frost White. Sprinkle with white
embossing powder and heat set using heat tool. Die cut with coordinating die.
Using scissors, trim off decorative swirls from both butterflies. Ink one
butterfly using Ranger Archival Ink – Forget-Me-Not and the other with ColorBox
Chalk Ink – Rouge. Set aside.
Stamp one inking of one of
the branches from the Cherry Blossom Retreat Die onto white card stock with
Ranger Archival Ink – Jet Black. Color using Stack and Store Daubers along
with Ranger Archival Inks – Coffee,
Vivid Chartreuse and Leaf Green. Die cut using coordinating die. Using the
Deluxe Flower Shaping Kit, shape slightly and adhere to top of card following
the circular pattern on the preprinted card panel.
Stamp one inking of the
fluffy birdies onto white card stock using Ranger Archival Ink – Forget-Me-Not.
Color using Stack and Store Daubers along with Ranger Archival Ink –
Forget-Me-Not and Colorbox – Rouge. Place in 3D Cherry Blossom Shaping Mold.
Stamp one inking of each
size of cherry blossoms onto white card stock using Memento – Rhubarb Stalk. Using
Stack and Store Dauber, color centers of blossoms using ColorBox Ink– Rouge.
Die cut using coordinating dies, ink petal tips with ColorBox Ink – Rouge and
place in 3D Cherry Blossom Shaping Mold.
Stamp three inkings of the
foliage found in the Tweet Cherry Blossom Cling Stamp Set onto white card stock
using Ranger Archival Ink – Olive. Using Stack and Store Daubers, color leaves
using Ranger Archival Ink – Vivid Chartreuse. Die cut using coordinating dies
and ink edges using Ranger Archival Ink – Leaf Green. Place in 3D Cherry
Blossom Shaping Mold. Spritz die cuts in 3D Cherry Blossom Shaping Mold
slightly with water and pass mold through die cutting machine. Set flowers
aside to dry.
Using Deluxe Flower
Shaping Kit, pierce flower centers. For large blossom, fold 3 non wired stamens
in half and put through flower center. Secure from backside using hot glue.
Repeat steps for mid-sized blossom using 2 non wired stamens folded in half,
and 1 folded in half for smallest blossom. Once glue has set, trim off threads
as close to base as possible.
Create floral cluster with
assorted size flowers and die cut foliage on leafy branch already adhered to
card base. Adhere two small birdies to floral cluster. Adhere one large flower
with foliage and birdie to bottom of card base as shown. Shape butterflies with
fingers slightly and adhere to card base using Designer Dries Clear Glue. Lastly,
using fine metal tip and Designer Dries Clear Adhesive, glitter all cherry
blossoms using Rajni Chawla’s Crystal Clear, and all preprinted florals using
Crystal Ultrafine Transparent Glitter.
