He has Called My Name & I Am His...

Good Morning, Afternoon or Evening depending on where you call home!
I'm glad you're here!

It seems like such a long time since I've done a post about something I do just for me, so
I thought I would show you what I worked on last night!

I recently purchased a Journaling Bible along with the Illustrated Faith "Genesis" collection from Bella Boulevard.  They have been sitting in my home for almost two weeks and I have been eager to get started however also trembling in fear to begin!  LOL
My perfectionist tendencies definitely have kicked in on this one and I really need to move forward...it's ok if it won't be perfect!

So, I started to read the first section of the "Genesis" Bible Study...you may think that it's the study of the first book in the Bible...but actually it's not.
The first verse that was listed to focus on was in Isaiah 43.  I decided to go with the entire chapter, and it was actually verse one that my attention was drawn to...especially the last statement or promise...

"I have called you by name and you are Mine"

Here's how my very first journaling page turned out in my Journaling Bible...

I've used some of the stickers to journal out the verse that were included in the kit.  Now since I cannot draw at all...LOL...I've used a Prima Doll Stamp for the image.  I thought she looked like she was really owning the promise...something I need to do more often.  I've colored her with my Spectrum Noir blending pencils and blending solution.  The image does show through on the other side of the page, as I feared it would...see here is where I have to let go of the perfection...however I really was not wanting to use clear Gesso to prep the page...so I guess I cannot expect perfection then.

The funny thing about perfection is that it also works it's way into your relationship with God.  I tend to feel that I am not worthy and fail in so many ways in my walk with Christ...which often leads me to setting aside my Bible reading and prayer...after all if I can't do it perfectly, why do it at all.  Now, I know that's not the right and I know that God is not asking for perfection.  It is just simply a tool that Satan uses to try to separate us from our Saviour...and I fall for it all too often.
The verse that spoke to me clearly says that I belong to God...it does not have any clauses attached to it...there is no perfection expected!

Here's a bit of a closer look at the page...

Well that's all for me today!
I hope you've enjoyed what I've shared with you!

Until next time...

There's Only One You

Greetings!
I'm so excited today because it's a new reveal day with Heartfelt Creations!
Have you seen the sneak peeks?
This is such a fun and stunningly gorgeous collection!

Here's a little bit about it....

Brighten your world with the sparkling colors and mesmerizing motifs of Peacock Paisley, the exquisite spring release from Heartfelt Creations.  This lush collection sparkles with jewel tones of topaz, sapphire, amber, emerald and turquoise.  The artistic flair of exotic peacocks, intricate paisleys, frilled feathers and delightful daisies will captivate your imagination and energize your creativity.  Six sumptuous sets of intricately designed, deeply etched red rubber stamps are the perfect companions to a vibrant paper collection that is overflowing with card fronts, cut apart pages, vivid artwork, pre-designed layouts and beautifully layered backgrounds.  The Delightful Daisy Die cuts 7 perfect floral layers with one pass through your cutting system.  Whether you want to preserve life's most beautiful moments, create with mixed media techniques or design keepsake cards, you'll be proud as a peacock to present the sophisticated elegance of Peacock Paisley.

Now when I think of peacocks, I think of beautiful and gorgeous over the top birds!
The colors that these birds display are absolutely amazing!
I've tried to capture this in this weeks card...including the feeling of their large open show when they strut around with their plume feathers on display...you'll see what I'm talking about in just a moment!

I fancied to do some coloring with my Spectrum Noir blendable pencils on the image that I chose to work with.  I always think they lend themselves to a softer coloring than the markers.
Of course I also wanted to add some sparkle and shine to the creation to mimic the gorgeous shine a peacock has when the sunlight hits it's open feathers!  I've tried to accomplish that look with Stickles and sequins!
I found a sentiment that I thought fit the card just perfectly..."There's Only One You" ...it's a message that would be perfectly paired with a peacock image to send to that friend who is just all around fun, over the top and whose personality is larger than life!

Enough description!

Let's take a look at how this creation came out!

When I saw the half circle die in my stash, I knew that I need to use it as a card topper to give the card a certain presence.  I also thought it really resembled the look of the fan shape of the peacock's tail and that it would really make the flowers pop at the top of the card!

Here's a closer look at the grouping...

I just love all the shimmer and shine on this card!
I've included all the supplies and directions on how I've created this card for you at the end of this blog post should you be interested...

Happiness is Being with You

Welcome!
It's Wednesday, which means it's a Heartfelt Creations project I've prepared to share with you today!
I feel that I must start this blog post with a confession...and a craft disclaimer!  LOL
What you are about to see here today is something that has not been seen on this blog EVER!
Preview at your own risk!

Hopefully there are still some of you with me after that!

My confession...I am not a real scrapbooker!
I have not completed a scrapbook page in the last 3 years or so I would say!
A blank 12x12 page scares me...and I panic wondering how I am supposed to fill up all that space on a page.  I dislike cutting my photos, I find it stressful to create a layout...and it takes me forever!
That all being said, I decided to take a plunge into the unknown and try a layout for Heartfelt Creations this week!

Ready for a preview?

Let me show you another angle...

I have to say that I actually enjoyed myself creating this project!
Oh don't get me wrong...there were still moments of great angst...but the Heartfelt Creations collections just make it so easy to pull it all together!

This photo is a snapshot of my Grandma with my daughter when she was three months old.  When I saw the sentiment on the bottom of the paper I've used, I knew this would be the perfect picture to use....Grandma always thought that being with her great grandchildren was pure happiness!  I also knew I had to fussy cut the top sentiment because she felt that those little people were masterpieces.

Let's take a close look at some of the elements on the page...

I've accented the photo with one of the gorgeous Heartfelt Creations corner dies.  I've also used a ticket sentiment from the Butterfly Medley paper pack and placed a rose cluster around it.  These roses remind me of the wild roses that grow in the ditches around our area!  They are beautiful and come in beautiful pinks and reds.  I've used one of the stamps from the collection for the focal point behind the photograph.  It's been stamped onto a blank card panel and then colored with Spectrum Noir colored pencils.

How about some close up of some of the botanical roses...

...and this collection has such beautiful butterflies...

...here's another view...

For the full instructions on how this layout was created, be sure to check out the end of this blog post or the Heartfelt Creations blog. While you're there, be sure to check out the other design team members creations.  They are sure to wow you!

That's all for me today!
Thanks for indulging me and taking a peek at my scrapbook page.
Hopefully you're good with me attempting this again sometime!
Practice will make perfect!  Ha, ha, ha!

Until next time...

Locate the "Happiness is Being With You" sentiment 12"x12" page within the Butterfly Medley Paper Collection.  Ink all the edges with a brown colored ink.  Set aside and locate the the large 5"x7" blank card panel pictured. Ink all edges of the panel with brown ink as well.    Create a mask around the oval on the card panel using washi tape, and stamp the image onto the centre of the panel using black ink.  Once dry, color using Spectrum Noir markers and blending solution.  Next locate the paper in the collection with the blue flower clusters, and cut slightly larger than the 5"x7" card panel.  You will be using this as a mat behind the stamped image panel.  Using the same paper, create a mat for your photo.  Ink both of these mats with brown colored ink around all edges.  Fussy cut the sentiment strip for the side of the layout, as well as the the tag sentiment located on the picture and lastly the sentiment strip used across the stamped image card panel.  Ink all edges of these elements with brown ink as well.  Attach the ribbon lace to the side of the layout and then the long sentiment strip on top of it.  Attach ribbon to the top and one side of the image panel as shown.  Adhere blue floral paper mat to the layout, then adhere the colored image panel staggered off to one side of the flower mat.  Mat your photo and then adhere it to the layout.  Die cut two corners from the Cut Mat Create 2B die set.  Apply one corner to the top of the colored image panel and one to the opposite corner on the photo.  Adhere the ticket sentiment to the side of the photo where you will be placing  a flower cluster as shown. Die cut 3 lace hearts at this time as well.  Begin flowers by stamping the images onto white card stock in pink and then inking some with a darker color pink and some with a lighter color pink on the edges of the petals.  Ink the back of the petals slightly as well as some of them will be standing off the page and the back side will be seen.  Shape flowers using a mist of water, flower shaping mat and tools. Die cut with the coordinating die.  Create some with layers and some as singles.  Set aside to dry and once dry, ink each petal tip slightly with a soft brown ink.  Add prills to the centre of each blossom.  Begin placing the flowers along the side of the layout and create a cluster on the corner of the photo near the colored card panel.  Once happy with placement adhere to page.  Stamp leaves in a darker brown ink onto a piece of green patterned paper from the paper collection.  Add a touch of light green to the centre of each leaf, and then die cut using the coordinating die.  Ink the edge of each leaf with a darker color green.  Once again using a mist of water, and flower shaping mat and tools shape each leaf.  Begin placement among the flowers and adhere to page once happy with placement.  Adhere the three die cut lace hearts as shown.  Stamp butterfly images onto white cardstock using Gray Flannel Memento ink.   Color with several different shades using finger daubers.  Then add Stickles to each butterfly.  Bend the butterflies ever so slightly to give them some dimension.  Add to each heart die cut in the  layout using 3D pop dots to give them the look of resting on the flowers. Your layout is now ready to gift, or to hang on display proudly in your home!

The Sweet Moment of the Season

Welcome Back!

It's Wednesday, which means it's a Heartfelt Creations inspiration day!
This week, the team was able to create with any Heartfelt Creations product line they desired!

I've had the Festive Christmas Collection sitting in my craft room for a bit now, and was excited to finally be able to dig into it!  This collection boasts beautiful shades of traditional Christmas colors with deep reds and gorgeous greens!

And, not to mention the most traditional Christmas flower...the Poinsettia...I just could hardly wait to get creating those gorgeous holiday florals!
Were you aware that the shape of the poinsettia flower and leaves are sometimes thought as a symbol of the Star of Bethlehem which led the Wise Men to Jesus. The red colored leaves symbolize the blood of Christ, and the white leaves represent His purity!  There's also a fascinating Mexican legend behind this pretty Christmas flower...you can read up more on it here!

Now, back to the business at hand!
Here's a look at what I was inspired to create this week...

...and a closer peek at the flowers...

I enjoyed myself so much creating this card!  Coloring, fussy cutting and creating beautiful flowers...it was just so much fun!
I hope I've been able to inspire you today!
There's still time to create some gorgeous Christmas cards...and this stunning product and paper line is sure to help you do that!

Thanks so much for stopping by today!
I do hope you'll take time to stop by the Heartfelt Creations blog to check out the fantastic inspiration projects the other talented design team members have created!

Instructions
Begin with a 5”x7” card base or create your own.  Select two coordinating background papers of your choice from the Festive Christmas Paper Pack Collection.  Cut both pieces to cover the card front.  The paper that you have chosen for the full background will remain in the 5x7 sizing.  The complimentary paper is to be die cut with the Spellbinders Tapestry die.  Once you have die cut the paper, cut down to the edges of the die cut portion making it a perfect size to mat against the background, ink both pieces of paper with brown ink, and adhere to the card.  Next adhere the doily to the center of the project. Choose a sentiment panel from the paper pack that you would like to use on the lower corner. Ink all edges of the piece with brown ink to give it an aged effect. Next, locate the premade scrapbook pages in the Festive Christmas Paper Collection and fussy cut the corner image with the poinsettias and baubles.  Also fussy cut the green round and red pointed dangling baubles from a second scrapbook page.  Ink all edges of the fussy cut items with brown ink.  Apply 3D pop dots to the corner die cut portion and position on card before adhering.  Position your sentiment panel as well before adhering.  Once happy with the placement of each of the pieces, secure onto the card. Proceed to adhere next fussy cut image with the round bauble covering the Merry Christmas sentiment bauble making sure to apply 3D pop dots to the pointed ornament so it flows with the rest of the dimensional images.   Begin with stamping the images you will need one dove image stamped on white card stock and as many flower images as you wish to create stamped on the light cream patterned paper from the Christmas collection.  On this creation I have used two stamp and cuts of the Poinsettia PreCut Set.  For the flowers, emboss with clear embossing powder while ink is still wet and set with heat tool.  Using the finger sponge daubers, apply the red ink and then a light coat of brown ink over it giving the flower a nice burgundy color. After inking, while ink is still wet, quickly remove a small amount between coats allowing a tiny bit of the cream colored paper to shine through. Use the yellow ink to give coloring to the center of the poinsettia.  Shape your flowers and layer as desired.  This creation has 3 various sized poinsettias that have two layers, and 2 poinsettias that have been layered three times.  Once flowers have been created, spray with shimmer spray and glitter centers.  Ink the die cut leaves with green ink and snip apart creating single leaves.  Set aside flowers and leaves and begin with coloring the dove image.  Once colored, apply dove image with 3D pop dots.  Then begin with flower arranging.  Once happy with your arrangement adhere to card.  Apply leaves among flower spray as desired.  Lastly, apply a few smaller flat poinsettia die cuts randomly around the sentiment portion of the card and glitter centers once adhered.  Send your card to a special friend or loved one for them to enjoy!
