Sweet Sugar Hollow Valentine Gift Box...

Good Morning, Afternoon or Evening...
depending on wherever you find yourself reading this post this today.

This Wednesday over at Heartfelt Creations, we are continuing our tour through
Now, when I first got to see the preview of this collection, the first thing I thought to myself was that this would be the cutest collection to use for Valentine's Day creations!

I decided to create a little heart shaped gift box that one could easily use for chocolates, candies, socks, etc. for that special someone that you would like to surprise.

Here's how the little heart shaped box turned out...

I've used the patterned paper from the collection, and as you can see the inside is just as pretty looking as the outside.  An SVG cutting file cut with my Silhouette Cameo made this a quick and easy project!  I've then used my manual die cutting machine to cut the decorative heart using white card stock and the Timeless Amour Die by Heartfelt Creations.  I've colored the owl image, stamped the sentiment and added some flowers and leafy swirls to complete the project.

Here's a closer peek...

I do hope I've inspired you today to create a special gift box for your special loved one!
Also, be sure to stop by the Heartfelt Creations blog to see what the rest of the design team have been up to in Sugar Hollow!

Until next time...

Vintage Valentine...

Hello Everyone!
Happy Friday!

I'm here to share with you today a design team project I've created showcasing the lovely Mabel's Diary by Ephemera's Vintage Garden.  If you haven't already visited the beautiful digital collections of Debbie-Anne, you are missing out on some gorgeous nostalgic and vintage papers and ephemera!
And, the beauty is that you print them yourself at home!

The beautiful Mabel's Diary is configured to use as a planner, junk journal or diary type project.
That being said, I'm a little different than many of the design team as I love using these products for a wide variety of other creations....so, it's my job to try to inspire you to branch out a little and try something new with your printables.

My first project is a Vintage Valentine Pocket Letter.
I have a friend in Ontario who I love trading pocket letters with...and I thought it would be nice to surprise her with a Valentine themed letter...and as I paged through my Mabel's Diary print outs, I soon found that it had all the elements I was needing.

Allow me to take you on a little tour of my creation...and I've even included a quick video for you as well...(now don't be too harsh as I haven't done many videos in the past, but hope to become better at it and create more in the future.)

Let's begin...

As you can see, I've done a lot of fussy cutting in this project.  I will be the first to admit that I love fussy cutting...I love to cut and fit pieces together, creating something beautiful!  While you may be saying that this is only a pocket letter and won't have taken much time...I can assure you that  I spent as much time on this piece as I do on a complex and detailed card.

Each of the cards in the pocket letter have had their edges inked with a VersaColor Pine Cone Ink to give them a further look of being aged.  I've fussy cut elements from within the digital collection and adhered them to various cards within the pocket letter to add interest and detail.  I've cut the image of the lady up in the corner to make sure that she could be assembled in two of the pockets so she would be standing in the background.  I've used the same technique with the birds in the bottom, however the embellishing on the top of the pockets has hidden part of it.

I decided that I really wanted this pocket letter to have some dimension, so I've used pop dots on every piece you see adhered to the outside.

Here's a closer look at the top of the letter...(sorry it's not the best photo...the day I took these photos I just didn't have good lighting and for some reason the focus seems off.)

I've fussy cut all of the roses from the Mabel's Diary Collection.  The two roses in the corner I've aged using Distress Inks -  Vintage Photo and Antique Linen...and of course a little Pine Cone Ink.  I've fussy cut the ribbon banners, as well as the sentiment from the collection as well.  The cameo style sticker in the corner is a 3D sticker from a vintage assembly that I found at the Dollar Tree.

Moving along to the bottom of the pocket letter...

I chose one of the lovely ladies from the printables that looked like she was just waiting for her Valenine beau.  I've aged her with a bit of ink as well and have fussy cut the heart shape beside her from one of the ephemera printables.

Now, the whole idea of a pocket letter is to correspond with a pen pal and to include a few gifts in the back of the pockets.  I believe that the back of your pocket letter should always be as beautiful as the front.  So, because I neglected to think about printing these pages double sided, I cut a second set of cards and adhered them with a good paper glue to one another.

The back looks like this...

Here's a peek at some of the gift ideas that I've included in this creation...

...some fussy cut ephemera pieces, some vintage style 3D stickers, a few flowers and pearls as well as some punched flower shapes created from scraps left over after cutting the pocket letter cards...

...a few tabs from the collection, more ephemera pieces, a small rose card also available in the collection...

So much fun to create and fill with goodies!

I've also included a video tour for you on my YouTube channel should you be interested!

I hope you've enjoyed your tour of my first Mabel's Diary project.  There will be more released throughout the next month...so stay tuned!  Also, be sure to stop by the Ephemera's Vintage Garden store where this collection is currently on sale for a limited time!  I'd love to see how you choose to use this collection.

Until next time...

From Our Home to Yours...

Welcome Back!
I have a fun little card to share with you today!
It's Wednesday, so you already know it's a Heartfelt Creations post...and I hope you've
already seen the adorable "Sugar Hollow" Collection.
People have really fallen in love with this collection...and I certainly don't blame them!

I decided to keep my design simple this week.
There are times when every crafter doesn't have a lot of time to create a card, and this week I wanted to show you how easy it was to keep your design simple but still give people the illusion that you spent a lot of time creating.

I chose a plain background paper that had a soft and pretty design.
I then decided to give the card a bit of interest by using a piece of a decorative border along one side.
A die cut shape on the bottom corner also adds interest, however is quick and easy to accomplish.

Here's a peek at the card...

I chose the fun owl family image stamp to work with on this creation, along with the leaning tree.
Both images have been water colored using Derwent water color pencils.
The small blossoms are those ever so versatile flowers from the Birds and Blooms collection.
I've used 3D pop dots on the tree, the owl family as well as the sentiment to give the card lots of dimension.
The fun finishing touches that I've used here are the multicolored prills as well as the yellow Stickles.

The perfect card creation for a housewarming, a thank you or any type of well wishes occasion from your family to another.

I hope you've enjoyed your visit here today!
Don't let it be too long before you stop in again!
I appreciate each and every visit, and you are more than welcome to leave a comment to let me know you were here!

Until next time...

Make the acquaintances of an adorable family of wide eyed and lovable owls who inhabit the beautiful and enchanting forest like surroundings. Each of these darling and delightful feathered friends comes with their own special personality and they are sure to find a soft spot in your heart! The sugary sweet color palette in this collection lends itself to adding a bounce to your step and and a happiness to your heart as you create with cotton candy like pinks, ribbon candy stripes, peppermint greens as well as several shades of confectionary grape lollipop like hues.  A whimsical assortment of beautifully illustrated stamps showcase images of oramental bird houses, lovely trees and a wide selection of owl images which can be used to design for a wide variety of occasions. The fun and witty sentiments included add a playful charm making this a collection that will appeal to crafters of all ages.  Whether you wish to remind a friend or loved one how special they are and that you think they are "a hoot", or send an any occasion card just because "It's Owl Good", this sweet and light hearted collection is sure to brighten someones day and bring a smile to their face!

And, let's move along right to my creation...

I did something on this card that is something that I seldom do...and that is to ink all of the edges in colored ink other than brown!  LOL  I found it too bright, so I did land up inking a little brown over the colored hues just to tone them down a little!

I also finished the inside of the card on this creation...
(my apologies that this photo isn't the greatest!)

..and here's a closer look at the owl in flight and sentiments...

This collection has so much potential.
So many wonderful sentiments to couple with adorable owl images!  A collection to use for so many different kind of occasions!

That's all for me today!
Be sure to stop by the Heartfelt Creations blog to check out the other creations the rest of the super talented design team members have created!

Remembering Penny...

Today marks a special blog post here as well as on the Heartfelt Creations blog...
We invite you to join us in remembering our dear Design Team Member, Penny Odell through some of our favorite projects that she inspired us with.

As many of you may have heard, Penny passed away mid December.
She leaves the craft world with a wonderful portfolio of inspiration as a part of her legacy.
I got to know Penny a bit through working with her on the Heartfelt Creations design team for the last year or so.  The one thing that I will always remember about Penny are her encouraging words and visits to the design team members blogs week after week...cheering them on in what they had created.  She always had a kind word and was also so gracious in accepting compliments and she always made sure to thank you!

Penny was a very talented lady.
Allow me to share with you some of my favorite projects that have inspired me...

A beautiful card created with the "All Glammed Up" Collection.
Penny's coloring has always amazed me.  She had a beautiful technique, and this card showcases that so well.   The stunning color palette that she assembled here is rich and regal and ultra feminine.
A beauty certainly ready for the red carpet!

...moving along...

I went way back in time to the collection that started this adventure for me a few days ago to see what Penny had created with the stunning "Classic Sunflower" Collection...and came across this stunning work of art!

The colors, dimensional elements, beautiful accents that frame the photo of her daughter and granddaughter make this layout a beautiful feast for the eyes.
I'm sure her daughter and granddaughter will go back to this photo on Penny's blog many times in the years to come.
That's the beauty of the photos on your loved ones craft blogs...they will remain there to be treasured by you and your future loved ones for generations to come and are only a click away!

...moving along to the last piece of Penny's inspiration that I want to share with you today...
In this piece using the "Italiana Riviera" Collection, I love the way Penny chose to use the leaves to create one of a kind flowers!  Penny had a wonderful trait in being able to think outside the box!  She created stunning jewelry from paper, and other fantastic creations that I would have never dreamed possible.  You can find many of those things on her blog here.

Thanks so much for joining me today in remembering Penny, and in continuing to uphold her family in prayer as they mourn their loss and feel the empty hole she has left behind.
Be sure to also stop by the Heartfelt Creations blog to view their tribute and leave a personal message.

Until next time...

Step into the Cafe...

Hi Again Everyone...and Happy New Year!
I hope that 2016 is off to a wonderful start for all of you!
It's hard to believe that another year has passed and we're embarking on a new adventure!

As you all know, it's Wednesday...which means it's a Heartfelt Creations posting day!  Yay!
Have you seen the sneak peek of the Sugar Hollow collection being released next week?
If not, be sure to check it out on the HC blog!

Now, on to business...today I'd like to share with you the "heavenly scent cafe"...

...as the sign says they serve up simple pleasures and the perfect blend!  LOL

I stumbled upon a "cracked glass" tutorial on Splitcoast Stampers (tutorial link is in the instructions below), and decided to give it a go.  The picture doesn't show the cracking too much, but I didn't work with it to get it super cracked either as I wanted it to mimic frost more than landing up looking like a broken window! I wanted to give the recipient of this card the feeling of strolling by a cafe and looking in the window, being drawn in by the yummy smells and sights.  I've cut the window shape using my Silhouette Cameo and have used an embossing folder to give the background the feeling of a brick wall.  They have both been cut out from a patterned paper from within the Coffee Talk Collection, which adds to the interest and colors on the window and wall. The window has been raised off of the background paper to give it a some dimension.   I've used a pre made card panel from the collection and cut it to size to create the inside view of the window.  The large sign has been fussy cut and popped up off the card to give it the look of hanging above the window.  I found the small sign shape in the paper collection, and used one of the sentiments included in one of the cling stamp sets to give my "cafe" a name!  I popped it off of the large sign for even more dimension.  I've fussy cut the small row of coffee cups and popped them up off the sign as well.

Lastly, I've fussy cut the cute little coffee cups image from the paper collection that you find on the bottom of the card, and used one of the pre made sentiments and cut it to resemble a small banner.
I've added a few small, simple flowers to accent the piece and give it a touch of whimsy!

I do hope you've enjoyed your trip to the "heavenly scent" cafe!
Now that you've stopped in here to grab a cuppa...be sure to stroll on over to the Heartfelt Creations blog where there are so many more stunning projects to take in!
Such a super selection of many different collections the designers have played with this week!

Until next time...

Watch this video to see how to shape the Birds and Blooms mini flower.

Create a 5"x7" card base using white card stock.  Using your electronic die cutting machine, cut a rectangle just slightly smaller than the card base, as well as the  resized window piece from the cutting file using the cream patterned paper from in the Coffee Talk Paper Collection.  Run the background paper through manual die cutting machine using brick image embossing folder.  Ink the embossed background paper and window image using a light brown ink and then a dark brown ink until you achieve an aged look to the brick work and window. Ink all edges of both pieces with a brown ink to finish.  Cut the rectangle card panel image shown in the window from the paper collection.  Follow this tutorial to create the "cracked glass" effect used on the inside window card panel.  Once finished with the cracked glass portion of the project, adhere card panel to window.  Using pop dots, adhere window to brick work background.  Adhere to card base.  Next, locate the large sign image and the small sign image  in the paper collection and fussy cut.  Ink all edges using a brown colored ink.  Ink the small sign edges with an additional touch of dark blue ink.  Using a black colored ink, stamp sentiment onto small sign.  Once again using foam pop dots, double up the dots for extra height and adhere large sign to card as shown.  Using just a single layer of pop dots, adhere small sign over top of large sign as shown.  Fussy cut the small image of coffee cups from the paper collection, and once again using 3D pop dots, adhere to large sign as shown.  Fussy cut set of coffee cups as shown on the bottom corner of card from a pre made card panel, as well as the sentiment.  Trim out one end of the sentiment to create a banner.  Ink all edges of cups image as well as sentiment with a brown ink.  Adhere sentiment to window image, and then adhere coffee cups image using pop dots.  Stamp one inking of the small flowers from the Birds and Blooms Cling Stamp Set onto a light blue paper from the paper collection.  Add a touch of dark blue ink to each flower using sponge daubers and then cut using coordinating die.  Using a spritz of water and flower shaping tool kit, shape flowers and adhere to card as shown.   Add a touch of blue stickles to each flower.
