So Sorry for Your Loss

Hi there!  I'm just quickly popping in today to share with you a sympathy card I created for the funeral we attended yesterday!

Yesterday we celebrated the life of a lady who we have fellow shipped with in church, and who was also one of our rural neighbours.  She and her husband have farmed the land adjacent to our property for as long as we have lived here.  One of my fondest memories of this special lady was when our daughter was born.  She teased me in church that she had a baby gift for my daughter but that it came with a condition...I had to come over with the baby so she could snuggle it and we had tea together.  I can still see her sitting at the kitchen table snuggling my daughter.  We had a wonderful visit, and one that I will always remember.  The other things that really stand out in my mind about this lady was her love of sewing and gardening...and these two passions are what inspired this card.  Take a peek...

I fell in love with the yellow floral background paper as the colors and flowers reminded me of piece of beautiful material waiting to be sewn into something.  I inked it up with some brown ink so that the colors were more subdued and proceeded to find another piece of designer paper that resembled material.  The polka dotted swatch worked perfectly mounted on a piece of green card stock.  I muddied up the colors on these as well with a little brown ink around the edges.  I used a Spellbinders die to cut out the fancy box and then used a circular Spellbinders die to create a frame effect.  I then matted a piece of yellow floral background paper to the back of the fancy square frame.  I used a Stamp 'n Up punch to cut a circle out of a piece of yellow card stock and chose a Stamp 'n Up sentiment that read "So Sorry" on the small punched circle. I inked the edges of this as well.  I adhered the sentiment to the centre of the frame with 3D pop up dots.  I also used the dots on the square so it would pop off of the card and have some dimension to it.  Before I did this I cut out the floral spray in my BigShot using a Memory Box die.  Lastly I added some flowers around one side of the sentiment and used some Stickles to make their centres shimmer.  I also applied a thin layer of Stickles to the centre floral papered portion of the card behind the sentiment for some added shine.

That's all for me today! The kiddos have just left on the bus for their first day of school!
They are so excited...and so am I.

Tracey, this card is beautiful. Why is it we make some of our most beautiful cards for some of the saddest of occasions? She will always be in your heart--beautiful memories. Sounds like you were blessed to have known her.
