It has been awhile since I created an altered art piece, and I have a bunch of canvases stashed in my craft room and decided it might be fun to do just a quick and easy canvas using this newest collection along with one of the pages from the Words to Live By journaling pages!

The journaling pages have such wonderful sentiments already illustrated on them, so creating a canvas with a "bee-autiful" message is quick and easy! I loved the message on this page because as  the "queen bee" in the home surrounded by all of my worker bees, it a wonderful reminder to clothe myself in love, mercy, kindness, patience, peace and self control!

Let's take a peek...

I've used some yellow patterned paper from the Sweet as Honey Collection to do the background matting for the pretty journal page I chose to use on this canvas. I inked all of the edges with a brown colored ink and then used some strong scor tape adhesive to adhere the pages to the canvas.

To keep things super quick and simple, I opted to just go with one of the small preprinted panels from the Sweet as Honey Collection instead of stamping and coloring everything, but you could easily do a more complicated version of this canvas in a more mixed media style with more layering, stamping, some texture paste and stenciling, etc.

I die cut a honey comb piece and then cut it in half to use as a simple piece to add interest to the canvas. I've kept some of those itty bitty hexagon die cuts pieces and opted to ink the edges and then use a few of them as accent pieces after I had added the rest of the focal pieces.  I had a center piece from the Intricate Swirl Frames Die sitting on my desk and decided it would be the perfect little frame to add some detail behind where I would create the floral bouquet. The frame a card dies make wonderful accent pieces in hidden places!

I then stamped one of the Honey Bee Maidens...aren't they just the cutest...as well as a crown for her to wear and a few worker bees to buzz around her. I colored them up with Spectrum Noir Blendable Pencils and Gamasol solution and then set them aside as I worked on stamping and die cutting the coneflowers from the Backyard Blossoms Collection!

I've created the dimensional coneflowers by stamping two images and then cutting off the foliage of the second image and then using my Deluxe Flower Shaping Kit to give them some shape. You can find the full instructions on how I snipped into the flowers to give then extra dimension in the set of instructions that follow this blog post.

....here's a closer peek at that cute little Honey Bee Maiden and the dimensional coneflowers...

I built up my coneflower arrangement and then added the queen bee to the cluster with dimensional pop dots. I shaped her worker bees slightly and then adhered them in and around the arrangement as well.

The icing on the cake for me is always the glittering and the adding of the prills on these stunning coneflowers. I've also added some glitter to the bees wings as well as the preprinted image on the journal page. (For full instructions and colors, etc. please see my instructions below).

Well, that's my share for today!
Thank you so much for stopping by my little home in blogland!

From the Sweet as Honey paper collection, trim a 8 ¾” x 6 ½” mat from a yellow patterned paper. From the Words to Live By Journal Pages, locate the page with the yellow daisy as shown. Trim off side where punched holes appear. Ink all edges of each of the pages using Ranger Archival Ink – Coffee. Using a strong adhesive, attach matting panels to canvas as shown.

Locate honey comb with buzzing bees and coneflowers rectangle shaped image panel in Sweet as Honey Paper Collection – it will be located on page with smaller image panels, as well as small polka dotted square card panel. Ink all edges of the rectangle panel again with Ranger Archival Ink – Coffee and set aside. Die cut a rectangle honey comb panel from the polka dotted decorative paper, trim around all edges, ink all edges using Ranger Archival Ink – Monarch Orange, and then cut in half. Adhere one half to top corner of rectangle card panel and one to opposite bottom corner as shown.  Die cut the inner portion of the Intricate Swirls Frame Die from white card stock using your die cutting machine. Adhere decorative frame over card panel. Attach panel to canvas as shown using dimensional foam tape.

Stamp two inkings of each of the largest coneflowers in the Blossoming Coneflowers, Backyard Blossoms and Garden’s Edge Coneflowers Cling Stamp Sets (three flowers in total) onto white card stock using Ranger Archival Ink – Coffee. Color each of the coneflower images using Ranger Archival Inks – Buttercup, Coffee and Monarch Orange. For full instructions on how to color the coneflowers, please see video link above.
Die cut all stamped images using coordinating dies. To shape the coneflower, snip into the petals following the stamped lines and then shape using Deluxe Flower Shaping Kit. Shape all coneflowers. Snip off the blossom on the second set of coneflowers. Adhere full image coneflowers to canvas as shown, creating a floral bouquet. Now adhere the snipped coneflower heads overtop the coordinating full image so that you have super dimensional double blossoms.

Stamp Honey Bee Maiden, crown, and worker bee images using VersaFine Black Ink onto white card stock. Color using blendable pencils and gamasol solution. Die cut using coordinating dies. Adhere bee maiden to canvas using dimensional pop dots. Adhere crown to bee maiden using a pop dot as well. Shape worker bees slightly and adhere to canvas as shown.

Ink a few small octagon die cut bits from your honey comb panel die cut using Ranger Archival Ink – Leaf Green and then adhere in random patterns around honey bee maiden and along top and bottom of raised image panel.

Using a dries clear adhesive, glitter wings on bees with Blue Rain Transparent Glitter, coneflowers using Lion’s Mane Transparent Glitter and large preprinted daisy image on side of canvas with Crystal Transparent Glitter. Again using a dries clear adhesive, adhere Prills to tops of coneflowers as shown.
