Botanic Orchid Birthday Wishes...

Hi There!
So glad you could pop in for a visit!

It's Wednesday which means I have another project for you from the newest collection by Heartfelt Creations...The Botanic Orchid Collection.

For this week I chose to use the hummingbird stamp which has many different hummers on it which can be cut out with the coordinating die.  I chose to create a background with them rather than die cut them for this card because when stamped as they are, they totally reminded me of the adult coloring books that are so popular right now!

Here's how it turned out...

I colored the background as well as the images on the sentiment stamp using my Spectrum Noir Blending Pencils along with a gamasol solution and blending stumps.
I've matted the handstamped background onto a piece of teal colored cardstock from the paper collection and cut out the delicate die cut for the sentiment from the same paper.  The sentiment has been adhered flat to the die cut and then popped up off of the background.  The orchids have been created using vellum paper and have been colored with Memento Rhubarb ink.  A touch of glitter and the card was complete.

Here's a closer look at one of the super simple to create vellum flowers...

This is truly a simple card to create, and will also give you a fix if you've been itching to do some of that "adult coloring"!

There are amazing samples and ideas up on the Heartfelt Creations blog again today!
Do be sure to pop on over there for a visit!

Until next time...

Watch this video to learn how to create and shape the Botanic Orchid flowers.

Create a 5"x7" card base using white card stock.  Trim a piece of teal patterned paper from the Botanic Orchid paper collection just slightly smaller than the card base to use as a mat.  Ink all edges using a soft brown color.  Die cut the largest decorative oval from the Spellbinders Floral Ovals set from the same teal paper as previously used.  Ink edges using a soft brown color.  Cut a white piece of card stock just slightly smaller than the teal mat.  Using black ink, stamp the assorted hummingbird cling stamp onto the white card stock multiple times to create background as shown.  Color using blendable pencils, gamasol solution and blending stump.  Ink all edges of card stock with a soft brown colored ink.  Adhere to teal mat and then adhere card front to card base.  Stamp sentiment with black ink onto white card stock, color and then fussy cut using scissors.  Adhere to oval die cut.  Adhere sentiment piece to card front using dimensional pop dots.  Stamp orchids onto vellum paper , then heat emboss using a white embossing powder and heat tool.  Die cut using coordinating dies and gently color with dark pink ink from the backside of petals.  Shape gently using flower shaping kit and assemble.  Adhere to card as shown.  Add glitter to flowers on sentiment as well as to edges of orchids.

Happy Father's Day...

Welcome Everyone!
We're celebrating Father's Day today!
The kids and I have planned a little surprise for their dad...we've rented a cabin and next weekend will be taking him on a Father's Day Fishing Getaway!  The kids are so excited because the cabin has a loft bedroom and have been making plans to play and sleep up there...and they've been begging me to rent the hot tub for the weekend!  LOL  I told them it would depend on what the forecast looked like!  Hopefully there will be some good fishing, as we've never been to this place before.

Now, I did want to share with the you the Father's Day card I created for my dad!
I chose to use the Under the Sea Collection by Heartfelt Creations this year!
We've been having such dull, cloudy and rainy weather again, I thought this collection would bring some brightening to dad's day!  I didn't want to go over the top floral for his creation...as I know he's been getting his fill of the real thing lately as he and mom have been designing some flower beds and doing quite a bit of planting this year!

I chose a fun shaped card file from the Silhouette Design Store to work with and set to work!

Are you ready?

That's right...I just couldn't resist doing a Hawaiian shirt with the floral cut outs and of course all the beautiful hibiscus prints from the Under the Sea paper collection!

As you can see, I've created a small shaped boutonniere just from fussy cutting a hibiscus cluster straight from the paper collection, and added one of the premade sentiments from the collection as well...and of course a touch of glitter!

Here's a bit of a closer peek...

I also wanted to add a scenic pattern to the bottom of the shirt as some of these "tacky" shirts do!
I once again fussy cut a portion of a scene from the paper collection and trimmed it to fit on the bottom of the shirt.

Here's a little closer peek at that portion of the card...

Again a touch of glitter and those bright orange buttons, I thought it came together really well!

The one thing I will tell you about my dad though is that he would never wear a shirt like this!  LOL But, I'm sure he'll find the humor and fun in the piece and enjoy it just the same!

So dad, I hope you have a great Father's Day!  Thanks for always being willing to pick up the kids from school when I can't make it there due to other obligations, for taking them to places they need to go when I can't, and for always making sure that the kids tummies are full of extra special treats you've picked up for when you know they're coming to visit...and even sharing with me!  LOL
And of course, for always listening and giving advice along the way!

Until next time...

Botanic Orchid Thinking of You...

Hello!  Welcome!
It's another Wednesday already!  Where is the time going?
My kids will be finished with school shortly, and I know already I will blink and the summer will have disappeared!  Time really does seem to be passing by more quickly lately!

This week my Heartfelt Creations share is once again showcasing the new Botanic Orchid Collection!  I wanted to do something a little different, so I decided to haul out my watercolor paints and play a little.  I'm not the most gifted when it comes to water coloring, but I thought this turned out okay.

Here's a peek...

I love the pretty softness of the water colored images against the purple and black matting.
This is really a very simple card to create...the only amount of time that can add up is the time you spend water coloring!

Here's a little bit of a closer look at the shaped orchid and the hummingbird.

The beautiful script sentiment used here is also one that is included in the Botanic Orchid Collection!

Well, that's all for me today...short and sweet!
Do remember to pop in at the Heartfelt Creations blog...there's a ton of new projects there for you to view, each bringing with it a new idea for your creative inspirations!

Until next time...

Other Products Used:  BigShot die cutting machine, water color paper, Prima Water Color Confections - Decadent Pies and Tropicals, paint brush, water, Versafine Black Ink, black card stock, white card stock, purple card stock, paper trimmer, MISTI, adhesive foam strip, scor tape, heat tool

Trim a piece of water color paper that measures 4"x5.25" and stamp the orchid image, along with the sentiment using a permanent black ink.  Set ink with heat tool. Water color using water color paints and fine brush, beginning with orchid image slowly working in different sections so water does not pull in color from other areas.  Water color in blue background.  Using a small amount of water and blue paint on your brush, lightly flick some color onto the card to add small dots to image panel.  Once again using water color paper, stamp the smallest orchid cling stamp set along with the assorted hummingbird cling stamp set.  Water color orchid pieces as well as hummingbird you wish to use.  Shape orchid and humming bird slightly.  Adhere to card as shown.  Once dry, adhere water colored image panel to a purple card stock mat just slightly larger than the panel using dimensional double sided adhesive foam strip.  Then mat panel onto a piece of white card stock as shown.  Using black card stock, cut a mat just slightly smaller than the 5"x7" card base.  Adhere image layers to black mat and then adhere to card base.

The New "Botanic Orchid Collection"...

It's another exciting Wednesday with us over at Heartfelt Creations!
The new "Botanic Orchid" collection releases today...and it's so beautiful!
The hummingbird is one of my favorite birds, so this was a huge hit with me to have so many hummers to choose from in all different sizes.

Here's a little more about the collection...

Showy, elegant and graceful, the divine orchid flower is one that is most certainly recognizable for its unique shape and known for taking center stage all on its own!  Heartfelt Creations presents to you their newest collection…The Botanic Orchid.  Overflowing with stunning floral images enveloped in soothing moss like greens, soft sky blues, creamy whites and flowery pinks, alongside rich burgundies and vibrant teals this collection is sure to appeal to any flower enthusiast.  Intricate illustrations and die cuts of orchid blossoms and bouquets, accompanied by delightful hummingbirds and scripted sentiments will have you creating your very own botanical experience with hand shaped orchid flowers bringing a realistic touch to all of your paper creations!  Preprinted sentiments along with those in the stamp collection are ideal for covering a wide range of occasions including weddings, friendship, sickness, encouragement and sympathies.  As one of the oldest flower species in the world, this unusual blossom native to rainforests and jungles has also taken on beautiful meanings relating to each specific orchid color including innocence, grace, joy, respect, admiration, health, happiness and passion, making this the perfect flower to convey a silent but special message for friends and loved ones on any paper creation!

It just so happened that a friend of ours had his mother pass away during the time I was just starting to play with this new collection.  I thought an orchid and hummingbird sympathy card would be so elegant...so I set to work.  I decided to use the perched hummingbird for the focal point on this card.  I actually created two similar cards...one in color, and one more white on white with silver embossing and just a touch of color.

Here's the sympathy card that we gifted to our friend...

...and here's the second version I decided to create in a similar design...

I decided to leave the orchids white with just some silver embossing and a touch of yellow ink.
I've popped up the mat on the card base as well as each layer after that to give this card quite a bit of dimension.

Here's a closer peek at some of the details...

I added just a hint of microbeads to the centers of the flowers for some shine and interest.
Of course the hummingbird and the branch he's sitting on have been shaped as well.
I've snipped apart the buds from one of the other images in the collection to add in some dainty fillers around the flowers and behind the hummingbird.

Be sure to take a look over on the Heartfelt Creations blog!
The other designers have worked really hard to bring you amazingly inspirational cards, layouts and altered art pieces.

Until next time...
