Young at Heart Mini Album...

Hello and Welcome!
Thanks for taking time out of your busy day to visit with me today!

It's Heartfelt Creations Wednesday, and I have a fun project to share with you...you might even
say it's "Young at Heart".

Just before the Young at Heart Collection was released I received a surprise email from Andrea Baker!  Many of you will have met her and Ben if you've attended any of the Heartfelt Creations craft shows.  Ben and Andrea are the busy bees behind setting up the show booth, creating those lovely displays you all like to gaze at...and of course as the awesome demonstrators who show you how easy it is to create all the various flowers!  I had the pleasure to meet this lovely couple in person last year at CHA...and they are every bit as kind, fun and wonderful as they appear!

Anyway, Andrea had just had the opportunity to check off one of her life's dreams from her bucket list and had gone on an amazing flight!  I had received some of the photos that she had taken in my design team delivery and had been wondering what I was to do with them...then the email came.
Andrea asked me if I would create a project with those once in a lifetime photos for her and the Young at Heart Collection!
I was so surprised...but so happy to do so!

I knew right away that I wanted to create some type of mini album for her...something that wouldn't get to complicated...and something that would just scream fun!

I broke out the Silhouette Cameo and some fun cutting files and set to work!

Here's how the mini album came together...

Let me apologize right away as this is going to be a picture heavy post...but I do hope you'll enjoy!

I chose several of Lori Whitlock's mini albums to create one of my own by mixing and matching several of the different page styles together! I die cut all of the pieces for the album first from kraft card stock and then duplicated the cuts with the patterned paper from the Young at Heart Collection that I wanted to use for the pages!

I knew that I wanted to use the map patterned paper for the cover because Ben and Andrea put on so many miles and travel all over the United States. I chose the font for the title from the Silhouette Design Store and opted to go with "Luggage Life" as that is the title of Ben and Andrea's blog!
I wanted the front cover to kind of look like a piece of luggage or passport with all the different stamps and pictures like a retro suitcase would have had on it!

Here's a closer look at the front cover...

I've fussy cut the images from the paper collection, inked all of them with a brown colored ink to give them a vintage feel and then adhered them to the cover.

Assembling this was super quick and easy as it's just bound with single binder rings.  I've dressed them up with different patterns, colors and widths of ribbon. I've added colorful reinforcements to each of the pages and they certainly brought a fun feel to the album!

Now, I must confess that I have not finished embellishing the entire album yet...and perhaps that will be a future blog post once it's completed.  However, I will share with the you pages that I have completed with the flight photos Andrea sent to me!

Let's take a peek at the first completed page which happens to be in the center of the album...

As you can see, I've done a little more fussy cutting for this page. I've also used one of the sentiment strips to accent the photo!  The flowers are from the Wildwood Cottage collection and I've given them lots of sparkle with some dries clear glue and transparent glitter and some prill centers.
I've added various sizes of Nuvo Drops around the floral clusters for some added interest.

...moving along to the second page...

For this page I've stamped, colored and die cut the airplane image.  I've popped it up off of the page to give it some dimension....and have shaped it slightly before adhering it to the page.
I thought the polaroid die cut was perfect for the retro feeling of the mini album and the selfie hashtag brought a little modern feel.  Again I've used the Wildwood Florals and have created several clusters on the page.

Well, that's my share for today!  I hope you've been inspired and found something new or interesting to try here! I hope Andrea will fall in love with her mini album as well once I have it totally finished!

Be sure to hop on over to the Heartfelt Creations blog to take in the other groovy projects the rest of the design team have created for your inspiration!

Until next time...
